How To Prepare

  • To thaw, remove the fillet from its original packaging, place it in a plastic bag, and thaw it in the refrigerator for 6-8 hours.

  • To expedite the thawing process, place the fish in a plastic bag and run it under cool water (never hot water). Learn more safe thawing tips here.

  • Tuna can be cooked on the stovetop, baked, or grilled depending on your desired method. Aim for an internal temperature of 125° F for medium, and 145° for well done. Or, serve your tuna raw in sushi, sashimi, or a poké bowl - here's our favorite recipe.

Our favorite way to prepare Yellowfin Tuna is by pan-searing or grilling. If cooking on the stove top, get a cast iron skillet extremely hot, cover your tuna steak in sesame seeds, and sear each side for one to two minutes. (More or less time, depending on your desired doneness.)
