Bloody Marys can take many forms ranging in a blend of savory, tangy, salty and spicy. While this often relies on the taste preferences of bartender and drinker alike there are a few key things to keep in mind when mixing this satisfying cocktail. Firstly, choose the freshest ingredients, select a high quality tomato juice (organic if you can find it) and a nice clean vodka that has a smooth taste. Secondly, a bell jigger will come in handy to measure ingredients in “parts”, and though its not necessary for this recipe it makes for easy mixing. Thirdly, select a glass for your drink that allows room for your ice and garnish - double old fashioned glasses are great for this, or use a classic tall tumbler. Lastly, round up your favorite garnish add-on's and remember, they're not just for looks! A few fresh shrimp will add a little protein, as will a slice of crispy bacon if you're feeling extra hardy. The main thing to remember is that this cocktail can be tailored to your taste with just a tweak or two. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 3oz Tomato Juice
- 3oz Vodka
- 3tsp Hot Sauce (We use Cry Baby Craig's for extra heat.)
- 2tsp Worcestershire Sauce
- 2tsp Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/2 juiced Lemon
- 1/2 juiced Lime
- 1/4tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
For Garnish
- Fresh Shrimp (We recommend Oishii White Shrimp)
- Pickled cherry tomato
- Stalk of celery
- Fresh dill sprig
For Glass Rim
- Season Salt
- Lemon Juice
To prepare you glass, add season salt to a small saucer, then in another small saucer the juice of half a lemon. Take your cocktail glass and dip into the dish with lemon juice and then into the season salt - coating just the rim, and set aside. Now, in a cocktail shaker add your liquid ingredients. Give this mix a quick stir and taste for seasoning - adjust if needed. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and gently mix, using a back and forth motion, until it is ice cold. Strain over fresh ice into your prepared glass. Garnish with celery stalk, dill sprig a pickled tomato and a few fresh boiled shrimp. For an extra kick, top with a dash of Hot Sauce!
